His life took a heartbreaking turn when his wife of 16 years suddenly passed away, leaving him with their six boys. During the years of hardship that followed, John held onto his faith, unaware that God was preparing him for the mission ahead.
Meanwhile in Kenya, Esther — who would later become his wife — was already walking out her own calling. Raised in a rural tribal village, she was one of the very few in her generation to attend university. She became a high school teacher of Geography and Christian Religious Education, but her heart was deeply moved by the homeless orphans she passed daily on the streets of Eldoret. Despite earning very little, she began feeding, counseling, and praying for them. She even launched a small Facebook initiative called Eldoret Street Children to raise awareness and gather support.
In God’s perfect timing, their paths crossed. On the very same day that a Kenyan pastor miraculously contacted John through a dream-led encounter, Esther also connected with him online. Through prayer, discernment, and confirmation, it became clear that this was no coincidence — God was bringing them together for His purpose. Esther personally verified the pastor’s ministry, and as their friendship grew, John began supporting her orphan outreach from afar.
Over the next four years, John and Esther ministered together across 8,000 miles, eventually founding Grace Abundance Africa Ministry. With God’s provision and the support of faithful family and friends, John was finally able to move to Kenya. Today, he and Esther serve side by side, ministering to orphans, feeding the hungry, supporting churches, and preaching the Gospel across Kenya and Uganda.
Their story is one of loss turned into hope, obedience turned into impact,
and God’s grace turning impossibility into reality.
